May 14th, the Liberty Day, marks the anniversary of the transformation of Turkish Republic from single party government to democracy. Every year, the week including this date is celebrated in the name of Liberty Week via various activities. At the Saturday night of the Liberty Week, friends of liberty come together for the Annual Liberty Dinner. At the same night, ALT delivers a Liberty Award to a person who contributes to the promotion of liberty in Turkey.
Essay Contest: Within the Liberty Week activities, an Awarded Essay Contest among undergraduate students is held to have them better understand the values and institutions of a free society and to promote their reasoning and composition abilities. The awards of the first three places are presented during the Annual Liberty Dinner. Besides the promising participants receive the complete issues of quarterly Liberal Thought.
